Massing Models
Massing Exploration:
First, the design started with locating the 5FW on the 1st storey of the building perimeter. Then the stretch of 5FW is elevated up at alternate levels. After that I tried to break the 5FW space into different pieces to create overlooking effect. Next, I connected back the 5FW pieces into a loop where it follows the direction of the site topography. These boxes not only create the overlooking effect but also enhance the visual connectivity between the inside and outside.
The target users are designers such as product designers, interactive designers, fashion designers and graphic designers.
The looping boxes also symbolize the cycle of design stages of the designers. From defining a project to research and planning and to group brainstorming and prototyping and finally realization.
These boxes require a small community of people to foster the liveliness of the spaces.
On every level, the boxes are tied to each other and form a collaboration space in between which then become the highlight of each level. These collaboration spaces are also catering to the needs of the different design stages. On every level, there’s also a void in the collaboration spaces to allow visual connection from floor to floor.
Overlooking happening not only on the perimeter protruding boxes but also the internal program spaces as well as the courtyard area.
